Violinist
Mann-Wen Lo performs extensively throughout the world as a soloist and
chamber musician. Featured on radio and TV broadcasts in the United States,
Taiwan, Japan, and France, Mann-Wen has gained recognition at numerous
competitions and awards, including the Taiwan Council for Cultural Affairs
Scholarship, First Prize at the International Chamber Music Ensemble
Competition, Oneppo Chamber Music Competition, Beverly Hills National
Audition, and USC Solo Bach Competition. Mann-Wen has been a recurring
artist at some of the most prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Jordan
Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Walt Disney Hall and Taiwan National Concert Hall.
Her recording with the Mana Music Quartet, featuring the music of Queen Liliʻuokalani,
was awarded Instrumental Album of the Year at the 2021 Nā Hōkū Hanohano
Award.
Mann-Wen has performed as a soloist with the Taipei Symphony Orchestra, the Academy of Taiwan Strings, Tokyo University of the Arts Ensemble, and American Contemporary Ballet in Los Angeles. She has served as guest concertmaster at the Pasadena Opera, American Contemporary Ballet, and Kaleidoscope Chamber Orchestra, and as guest assistant concertmaster at the Dallas Chamber Symphony. As a core member and principal violinist, Mann-Wen performs regularly with Delirium Musicum, a boundary-pushing conductorless chamber ensemble. She has been a featured recording artist under labels such as Warner Classics, Navona Records, and CMH Label Groups.
Chamber music is at the heart of Mann-Wen’s musical passion. She has collaborated with members of world-renowned string quartets such as the Juilliard String Quartet, the Cleveland Quartet, Quatuor Ysaÿe, and the Takács Quartet, among others. In addition, she has performed with artists such as Glenn Dicterow, Peter Frankl, Roger Tapping, David Shifrin, Margaret Batjer, and Andrew Shulman. Mann-Wen has been invited as a guest artist to concert series such as Camera Lucida in San Diego, Sunset ChamberFest, Le Salon de Musiques, Castleton Chamber Players, New Asia Chamber Music Society, and the Da Camera Society in Los Angeles. Her festival appearances include Yellow Barn Chamber Music Festival, Menuhin Festival Gstaad, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Saito Kinen Festival (now Seiji Ozawa Festival), ANA Music Week, Hawaii International Music Festival, Hawaii Chamber Music Festival, and Rencontres Franco Américaines de Musique Chambre in Missillac, France.
Mann-Wen's exploration beyond the Western classical genre has led to collaborations with Grammy award-winning artists such as Béla Fleck (banjo), Jake Shimabukuro (ukulele), Kalani Pea (singer), and JP Jofre (bandoneon/composer). She is a recording artist with the Vitamin String Quartet, known for its popular renditions of rock and pop music. As a curious artist, Mann-Wen is fond of multidisciplinary collaborations and the realm of improvisation. She has been commissioned by the Pompano Beach Cultural Center to create an original composition in a performance of music and live painting, with improvisatory elements in the middle movement. She has also collaborated with sitar player Partha Bose, tabla player Indranil Mallick, and Carnatic violinist Aishu Venkataraman in an experimental improvisation demonstration.
A graduate of the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music, Mann-Wen completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree with an Outstanding Achievement Award under the guidance of Glenn Dicterow. She has earned her academic minor in Music Teaching and Learning, as well as elective fields in instrumental conducting with Larry Livingston and Jazz Studies with David Arnay. Mann-Wen also holds degrees from Yale School of Music (MM), studying with Syoko Aki and the New England Conservatory (BM), mentored by Masuko Ushioda. She has worked closely and greatly influenced by Ralph Kirshbaum, Roger Tapping, Daniel Phillips, Donald Weilerstein, and members of the Tokyo String Quartet.
To inspire and encourage everyone to lead a creative life through performances and teaching is Mann-Wen’s personal mission. She currently serves as a violin professor at the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music. She is a recurring faculty member at summer festivals including Deutsch-Polnische Festival für junge Musiker in Bremen, Montecito International Music Festival, and Texas Music Festival. She has given masterclasses and taught as a faculty guest artist at East Tennessee State University, Punahou School, and Iolani School. In collboration with the Liliʻuokalani Trust and Mana Music Hawaii, Mann-Wen was a teaching artist and co-launched a music program mentoring young Hawaiian children and youths. Mann-Wen has served as a jury member for the International Music Competition Opus 2022, the 2023 Houston Virtuosi Concerto Competition, the 2023 Young Musicians Festival Competition at the Asian American Cultural Center in Austin, and the HTMA Ensemble Contest.
Aside from music, Mann-Wen enjoys running, hiking, learning to play Go, and experimenting with cameras in her spare time.

Born
in Davis, California, Korean-American cellist Eunghee Cho was awarded Second
Prize and the special award for Outstanding Chinese New Piece Performance at
the Alice & Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition (China). He
has also earned top prizes in the Gustav Mahler Prize Cello Competition
(Czech Republic), AEMC International Chamber Music Competition (Italy),
Chamber Music Yellow Springs Competition (USA), among other competitions and
has appeared as soloist with numerous orchestras around the country
including the Sacramento Philharmonic, Fox Valley Symphony, Cape Symphony,
Atlantic Symphony, Symphony by the Sea, UC Davis Symphony, and Sacramento
State Symphony Orchestras. He is Principal Cellist of Dallas Chamber
Symphony and Mercury Chamber Orchestra where he leads on both modern and
baroque cello. He has held the Joyce & Donald Steele Chair as Principal
Cello of the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra in addition to Guest Principal
Cello appearances with orchestras around the country including Boston
Festival Orchestra and Cape Symphony.
Eunghee is the cellist of Trio Magnoliana and Director of Chamber Music for
Texas Music Festival. He has been invited to present cello masterclasses for
Boston Conservatory, Towson University, La Jolla Music Society, University
of Southern Mississippi, Artis Naples, Royal Conservatory of Music, Walnut
Hill School for the Arts, and Martha’s Vineyard Chamber Music Society, and
is the Artistic Director of Mellon Music Festival in Davis, CA. Eunghee has
also served on the summer teaching faculties of Texas Music Festival,
International Cello Institute, Montecito International Music Festival,
Heifetz International Music Institute, Texas Strings Festival, and Festival
Internacional de Música Naolinco. He currently teaches cello at the Moores
School of Music at the University of Houston where he also directs the
Moores Cello Ensemble and CelloFest Houston.
His chamber music collaborations include performances with artists such as
Midori Goto, Inon Barnatan, David Shifrin, Paul Neubauer, Maeve Gilchrist,
Elton John, Jorge Glem, Alexis Cardenas, Keith Murphy, Alec Benjamin,
François Salque, and with members of the Cleveland Quartet, Borromeo String
Quartet, St. Lawrence String Quartet, Calder String Quartet, Silk Road
Ensemble, A Far Cry, Da Camera Society, and Aaron Diehl Trio. He was the
founding cellist of Rasa String Quartet and has collaborated directly with
composers in world and national premieres of their works including with José
Elizondo, Andrew Norman, Michael Gandolfi, Jeremy Crosmer, Christopher
Goddard, and Julia Adolphe. Previous festival engagements include La Jolla
Music Society’s SummerFest, Norfolk Chamber Music Festival, Taos School of
Music, Keuka Lake Music Festival, Highlands Cashiers Chamber Music Festival,
Rheingau Musik Festival, Festival International d’Echternach, and Rencontres
Franco Américaines de Musique Chambre in Missillac, France.
Eunghee graduated as a Steven & Kathryn Sample Renaissance Scholar from the
Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California with a
Bachelor of Music in Cello Performance and a Minor in Biology as a student
of Andrew Shulman. He completed both Master of Music and Doctor of Musical
Arts degrees at New England Conservatory under the tutelage of distinguished
pedagogues Laurence Lesser and Paul Katz, and studied baroque cello with
Lucia Swarts at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague. Eunghee has actively
participated in classes at the Piatigorsky International Cello Festival and
Académie Musicale de Villecroze in France and has worked closely with Ralph
Kirshbaum, Kim Kashkashian, and Midori Goto. His cello instruction began
with Julie Hochman, Richard Andaya, and Andrew Luchansky.

Pianist
Andrew Staupe is emerging as one of the distinctive voices of a new
generation of pianists. Andrew has appeared as soloist with many of the top
orchestras throughout the United States and in Europe, including the
Baltimore Symphony, San Diego Symphony, Houston Symphony, Minnesota
Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony, Indianapolis Symphony, the George Enescu
Philharmonic in Romania, and many others. He has collaborated with
distinguished conductors Osmo Vänskä, Cristian Macelaru, Jahja Ling, Gerard
Schwarz, Andrew Litton, Lucas Richman, Josep-Caballe Domenech, and Philip
Mann. Andrew has performed recitals across the United States and extensively
in Europe, appearing in distinguished concert venues including the
Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Rachmaninov Hall in Moscow, the Schumann Haus in
Leipzig, and the Salle Cortot in Paris.
An avid chamber musician, Andrew has jammed with legendary vocalist Bobby
McFerrin, played Tangos with the Assad Brothers, and has collaborated with
numerous other distinguished instrumentalists and singers. He recently
recorded his debut CD with violinist Hasse Borup for the Naxos label in
Copenhagen which will be released in 2020. Andrew has a keen interest in
performing new music and has collaborated with composers Howard Shore,
Augusta Read Thomas, Yehudi Wyner, Sarah Kirkland Snider, Pierre Jalbert,
Richard Lavenda, and Christopher Walczak among others. Other notable
performances include concerts at Carnegie Hall and Steinway Hall in New
York, and the Kennedy Center and Library of Congress in Washington DC. He
has been heard twice on American Public Media’s “Performance Today,” and on
Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion” in 2004.
Deeply committed to teaching, Andrew is an Assistant Professor of Piano at
the University of Houston, and formerly taught at the University of Utah. He
is Artistic Director of the Young Artist World Piano Festival in Minnesota,
and gives frequent master classes and lectures around the United States. A
native of Saint Paul, Minnesota, he earned his Doctorate at Rice University
with Jon Kimura Parker, and also studied at the University of Minnesota with
Lydia Artymiw.
