Yutong
Sun has gained international recognition by winning major prizes of
prestigious competitions in the world. Most recently, he was awarded
the second prize at the 19th Paloma O’Shea Santander International
competition in Spain, where he has also received the third prize at
the 62th International Music competition Maria Canals in Barcelona
(2016) and the first prize at the 54th International Piano
competition Prize “Jaén” 2012; likewise, he has also been recognized
in New Orleans, Horowitz and Bösendorfer.
Sun has made his appearances in major venues around the world such
as Salle Cortot in Paris, Palau de la Música in Barcelona, Jordan
Hall in Boston, The Bolshoi Hall in Saint.Peterburg, Warsaw
Philharmonic Hall, Beijing Concert Hall, Shanghai Grand Theatre,
among others. His performances have been broadcasted by Bavarian
Broadcasting, Polish Radio and Spanish Radio and Television
Corporation, Beijing Radio and Television Station, among others.
Consequently, he has been soloist with several symphony orchestras,
such as Symphony Orchestra of Galicia, City of Granada Orchestra and
RTVE Symphony Orchestra in Spain; Saint Petersburg Philharmonic
Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, Phoenix Symphony
Orchestra, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, The Santander Orchestra,
National Symphony Orchestra of Dominica Republic, among several
others.
Among the conductors he has worked with are to mention Miguel Ángel
Gómez Martínez, Paul Mann, Earl Lee, Nicholas McGegan, Matthew
Kasper, Maciej Tworek, José Trigueros and Jose Molina.
Native of China, born in 1995, Currently he is a student of New
England Conservatory under Prof. Alexander Korsantia and Prof. Dang
Thai Son. Previously he was educated in The Music School attached to
the Central Conservatory in Beijing with Prof. Hua Chang. Yutong
Sun’s first piano recital CD was recorded by Naxos in 2012 and
released worldwide in 2013 as part of its Laureate Series.
