Marvel Ang, dulcimer
Larry Weng, pianist
Marvel Ang will be in Junior High at the Boston University Academy in
Sept., 2004. He took lessons with Mr. Zhang Zheng Tian and later Ms. Ping Li, the
principal dulcimer player of the China Central National Orchestra of Traditional Music of
Beijing. It is under her guidance and expectation that Marvel achieves his present level
of performance.
In 2002, Marvel visited Beijing, China and played at the China Music University for
Professor Zuhu Xiang, President of the International Dulcimer Association and at the
Central Music University for Professor Xili Gui, President of Beijing Dulcimer
Association. Both gave Marvel very high commendation.
Marvel has performed at various occasions and community events such as 2001Chinese New
Year Celebrations, 2002 & 2003 International Fair in Randolph; 2003 Asian Night in
Boston Latin Public School; 2003 & 2004 Chinese NY Celebration for Family of Children
from China, Diversity Week at Brigham & Womens Hospital, Fleet Bank; Diversity
month in Arlington; Community Church of Boston; 2004 Summer Camp in Mary Baker Eddy
Library.

Larry Weng is sixteen years old, and is currently studying with Sylvia
Chambless at the New England Conservatory. He has made numerous performances
in the Boston area, at such renowned venues as New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall. He
has also won many awards and competitions, such as first
prize at the NEPTA competitions of 1999 and 2001, first prize at the New England
Concervatorys concerto competition, and fifth prize at the Fifth International
Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians.
